Protests erupted in Murshidabad, West Bengal, over the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, leading to violent clashes. Demonstrators blocked highways, set police vehicles ablaze, and attacked a local MP's office. The unrest resulted in three deaths and over ten injuries. Authorities arrested more than 274 individuals and imposed Section 144 to restore order. The Calcutta High Court ordered the deployment of central forces to manage the situation. ​
